Dr. Paul Jaconello qualified at the London Hospital Medical School in London, England, in 1967. After his internships in medicine, surgery and obstetrics, he embarked on a career in anesthesia and procured his fellowship examinations in England. He came to Canada in 1973 and continued his career in anesthesia for a further two years as an assistant professor in anesthesia at The University Hospital, Saskatoon, and also at McMaster University Medical College.

In 1975, Dr. Jaconello decided that he could help more people in primary care medicine and decided to go into general practice in Toronto. He worked in a single-handed practice for four years. Over this period of time, he came to realize that conventional medical practice was not effective for the majority of his patients who were suffering from stress related disorders. The use of drugs such as mood elevators, tranquilizers, and sedatives lead to more harmful effects than good and did not solve the problems of his patients. Unwilling to use drugs as treatment, he began his study of nutrition and orthomolecular medicine to resolve the health problems of his patients.

He became more interested in the use of nutritional therapy in the treatment of lifestyle and stress related disorders. Dr. Jaconello then attended a conference on Hair Mineral Analysis in November 1979, given by Dr. Jeffrey Bland, Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Washington which gave him the additional momentum to concentrate his work in nutritional therapy in the treatment and prevention of disease and functional problems.

Dr. Jaconello formed a clinic in October 1979. This clinic is dedicated to the use of nutritional therapy in the treatment of patients and combines the proper use of conventional medicine and nutritional medicine in the treatment and counseling of patients. As time went, he came across information about Allergies and Chelation therapy.

In studying the area of Allergies, Dr. Jaconello became aware of the use of low dose immunotherapy in the management of environmental and food allergies. He began an intensive study of this modality of treatment developed by the English Immunologist, Dr. Leonard McEwan. As a result, since 1991 he has attended many seminars given by Dr. McEwan and has found this a very helpful modality of treatment for allergic and food sensitive patients.

Through the study of EDTA Chelation Therapy, Dr. Jaconello found this to be an invaluable treatment in management of patients with arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease when combined with conventional medical therapy, proper nutrition lifestyle and appropriate exercise. He passed his final examination for the American Board of Chelation Therapy in spring of 1998 and he is now a Diplomate of Chelation Therapy.

He is now entering into the area of the role of mercury toxicity in human health problems and is evaluating this problem in many of his patients.

Dr. Jaconello has also attended seminars by Dr. Jeffrey Bland, Ph.D. who is a pioneer in the application of molecular medicine in the management of a multitude of health problems and uses the tenets of this information in the management of his patients.

Dr. Jaconello continues his studies on a daily basis to improve his practice and help his patients through nutritional therapy.

Community service and education form an important role for Dr. Jaconello. He has given lectures at Club 44, ManuLife Centre, the Elmwood Club, the Jewish Community Centre, the Hamilton Chapter of the Consumer Health Organization and the Electrolysis Association of Ontario.

Dr. Jaconello has given seminars for NutriDyn in Red Deer, Alberta and here in Toronto. The International Foodservice Editorial Council had him speak at their 1985 Conference Between Friends. He has spoken out against pollution for the Watchdog Committee against Pollution.

He has been a guest on The Journal, CBC, and spoke on CBC in Alberta concerning Candida Albicans. He has also appeared on the Morton Shulman show, and Marketplace, he has spoken on radio and has lectured in various provinces in Canada and the U.S.

He also treats patients with chronic candidiasis and maintains a network of specialists to whom he refers some patients for specific problems.

The Jaconello Health Centre for Nutritional and Preventive Medicine, serves patients who come for this type of medicine. His purpose is to bring a new quality of health to those who wish it, and to educate doctors and the public on the amazing results, which can be achieved through the use of vitamins, minerals and natural substances.
